Your Week’s Essentials

A good shopping spree never hurt anyone (maybe your bank account, thought). Many times, I go on a shopping trip with no intention to buy anything. I try on countless items to see how I can possibly change my clothing style, add to my current collections, and upgrade my closet. Very frankly, almost 95% of the clothes I try on I never purchase; however if I can get one or two items that really stand out to me, I will never hesitate to make that purchase.

Iced Matcha Latte

Doing my work at cafes has exposed me to a variety of drinks, with matcha becoming my all-time favorite. People say it’s an acquired taste, but I fell in love with it on the first sip. I initially hesitated to order anything besides a sugary frappucino or fruity tea; however, the leap I took to drink matcha is one I will always take.

Taking the time to breathe again by watching sunsets more often, I believe, cures the stress of our daily struggles. I get reminded of how there are simple things whose beauty never fades, such as the waves crashing on the shore or the unpredictable range of hues painted across the sky.

Custom Bowl at Sweet Green

When was the last time you ate a fresh vegetable or salad? Not anytime soon, I’m sure. I’m guilty of it, especially as a college student on the go. Taking the time to enjoy a good-for-you meal helps me feel more grounded, and reminds me to slow down, and reconnect with my food again. As a nutrition student myself, I have learned the importance of eating whole foods and the benefits of it that go beyond just nutritional health. Eating plant-based foods helps me get back in touch with food instead, eat more mindfully, and appreciate it for what it is.
