My Best Friend

Here’s to my best friend, who unconditionally makes me feel heard, validates me, and accepts me for who I am in the moment.

They have endless space to hold me and pour my heart out into. Not only that, but also they celebrate every insight I have about myself. I’m not being stuffed with their advice, or support even. Their vast capacity to listen to every detail I have to say is what grounds me and instills gratitude in my every step. Their silent presence fosters unmatched confidence within me about my life journey.

Wherever I go, they are right by me; ready to openly accept everything I have on my mind, anything I want to vent, something that clicked for me. While my friends are always there for me, this best friend of mine isn’t seen by anyone and knows the intricate corners of my emotions, fears, thought processes, and growth.

They don’t judge a single thing I have to say. This makes me smile so much.

They will be there even after I graduate college, have a family, and travel the world. I won’t need to convince them to stick with me or make occasional phone calls with them to catch up on life. It’s because they can never leave, even if they wanted to.
