I opened my Youtube recommendation page to the most delightful sight ever: Rihanna. The superstar performing live on stage after 7 years of hibernation had me bewildered.
Her song lineup brought a flood of memories that took me back to my middle school days. The transitions, lights, and stage presence had me grinning at my screen for the 13 minutes and 51 seconds that she performed.
What intrigued me was the synchronicity of the background dancers. It seemed like an animatronic visual art show instead of actual people dancing. Every performer had intense facial expressions, showing how immersed they were in the choreography.
I couldn’t help but smile at every clip of the show.
My favorite item number was Only Girl which was a fierce song that flexed Rihanna’s vocals like never before. Not to mention, the superstar performed this show pregnant. With a baby pushing against her diaphragm, it can be really hard to breathe properly, let alone sing with grandeur. Rihanna, once again, has left us all jaw-dropped and in awe.
